Dementia, particularly Alzheimer's, is a problem that increases as populations age. France and South Korea are two countries with aging populations who are taking measures to address the problem. There is no cure, but both countries are committing resources toward research and implementing policies to meet the needs of sufferers and their caregivers.
Israel claims to be the only democracy in the Middle East. Of course, ancient Athens was also a democracy, but built on slavery. Israel's democracy is built on denial of the rights of its Palestinian minority and its colonial and irredentist exploitation and mistreatment of Palestinians in the Occupied Territories. Moreover, it wants to remain "the only democracy" in the area.
Although the roots of the current revolutions in the Arab world can be found in the prevailing tyrannical/despotic order, violations of human rights, poverty, unemployment (especially among the young), corruption, dynastic rule, and widening gap between rich and poor, the deeper and more profound reason is the Arabs' enduring struggle for freedom and dignity - the two wings of the Arabian Eagle that emblazons the Egyptian flag.

Two democratic elections
A group of 80 demonstrators gathered on August 29 in front of the constituency office of Premier Dalton McGuinty to protest what they see as government inaction on the housing needs of low to moderate income Ontarians. The demonstration was organized by ACORN (Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now). Their concerns relate to a lack of affordable, livable housing, to poor upkeep of rental units, to what is seen as too generous a permitted increase in rental rates, and to the ability of landlords to charge whatever they want once a unit becomes vacant.
Deprescribing is as important for patient care as prescribing. Too many prescriptions may cause serious problems, according to Dr. Ali Elbeddini, the pharmacy manager at Winchester District Memorial Hospital. He was speaking by videoconferencing to Ottawa's Social Workers in Aging and Gerontology on September 24. Deprescribing may involve either stopping or lowering the dosage of a prescription.
"Denationalization"-that has been the plight of Palestinians, according to Nadia Abu-Zahra, an Assistant Professor in International Development and Global Studies at the University of Ottawa. What does that term mean?
