On November 5, 2011, Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC) imposed a two year moratorium on new applications to sponsor parents or grandparents. A new option was provided where parents and grandparents of Canadian citizens and permanent residents could apply for the Parent and Grandparent Super Visa in order to visit Canada. This procedure would allow parents and grandparents to visit Canada for up to two years and the visa would be valid for ten years.[1]
On February 6, 2014 Canada's Citizenship and Immigration Minister Chris Alexander introduced into Parliament the first comprehensive changes to the Citizenship Act since 1977. Following Conservative government's practice of giving political names to its legislation, Bill C-24, is titled "Strengthening Canadian Citizenship Act."
On April 23, 2014 Canadian Minister of Citizenship and Immigration Chris Alexander announced the new list for the Federal Skilled Worker Program. As of May 1, 2014, there is an overall cap of 25,500 for new federal skilled worker applications. This number includes a cap of 500 applications from PhD students. For those applicants with a qualifying job offer there is no cap imposed.

The Polls indicate that the current governing Ontario Liberals led by Kathleen Wynne are in a neck and neck race with Tim Hudak's Ontario Progressive Conservatives.
On January 1, 2015 the Government of Canada made significant changes to Canada Immigration policies for skilled workers who wanted to apply for Immigration to Canada. The Skilled Worker, the Skilled Trades Person and the Canada Experience Class Immigration programs were rolled into the new "Express Entry" program. The Live-In-Caregiver program was not affected by the changes.

The new requirements for Canadian Citizenship are now in force as of June 11, 2015. One of the most important changes is the requirement that an individual be in Canada for 4 years over a 6-year period. The old rule was physical presence in Canada for 3 years out of a 4-year period.

Today in the "Age of Donald Trump" and a rise of right-wing political parties across the Globe we are seeing a resurgence of right wing views, anti-Immigrant sentiments and veiled discrimination against "The Other" and the trampling on the rights of various minorities. These minorities include the Rohingya Muslims in Myanmar, Palestinians in the Holy Land, refugees in Europe, Muslims in many countries, Arabs, even Christians in the Middle East, conflict between Sunni and Shia Muslims, attacks against Blacks and vilification of Mexicans and other Hispanics in the United States, and discrimination and even persecution of other minorities.
While militarily strong and facing no existential threats Zionism and Israel's policies toward the Palestinians has been taking a beating in world opinion.2
