When I was reflecting on Netanyahu's domination and control of the Congress of the United States of America, the first headline that came into my mind for this article was Goodbye to peace. I'll now explain why I think the headline above is more appropriate.
The good news about Obama's speech on May 19 is this: it will be ignored by the new power in the Arab world; the people. Obama gets an A for staging and an F for substance. Whenever values and interests clashed he took the side of the latter. He did not comprehend the profound changes sweeping the Arab world.
If the federal Liberals don't get their act together, and do it quickly, they risk disappearing into the black hole of Canadian political history. I have always found it easier to listen to politicians while I'm busy doing something else. That way, if they say something silly or ignorant, I can distract myself.
In the face of the geopolitical reality and democratic promise of the Arab spring, there is global restiveness concerning the Palestinian-Israeli conflict, and the continuing, uncertain, social, economic, cultural and political future of the Palestinian people.
Western media has no good word about any of the Arab revolutions including that of Egypt. But Arab revolutions are all success stories. Even those who have involved violence are far less bloody than that of the French Revolution.
