Re: The "J" word - understanding extremism

Jalaluddin S. Hussain, Brossard, Quebec

I have enjoyed reading the contents of the latest issue of The Canadian Charger (Feb. 26, 2015). I must also mention that I have been reading many of the articles articles of your electronic magazine, for the last more than 6 years and always find them quite educative and informative.  Please keep it up!

Reference Mr. Reuel S. Amdur's article, entitled:  "The J-word - understanding extremism", dated February 23, 2015, I fully endorse his views.

I was also happy to read about the views of Imam Ismail Albatnuni of the Ottawa's Assunah Muslim Association Mosque and Imam Sikander Hashmi of the Kanata Association Mosque.  Without doubt, a majority of Canadian Muslims will support their views. Islam stands for tolerance and respect.  Congratulations to both the Imams!

While I agree with Dr. Zewail's conclusion that President Sisi "has brought economic and diplomatic advances as well as hope..." he should strive further to bring about multicultural harmony within the Egyptian society of more than 80 million people and help in the process of  resolving the long outstanding Israeli-Palestinian conflict.

I wish you all the best.
