  • Harper’s "war on terror"Scott Stockdale
    January 1, 2015

In a recent article on Truth and Shadows website former award-winning newspaper reporter and editor Barrie Zwicker outlines his case for concluding that: "THE "TERRORIST" EVENTS of last October in Ottawa and two days earlier in St-Jean-sur-Richelieu bear all the hallmarks of a coordinated cross-border one-two punch false flag operation."

  • Has President Obama become a joke?Alan Hart
    November 6, 2011

On October 22nd, in his radio address to his own people, and over the internet to those around the world who still think he is worth listening to, President Obama said, "This week we had two powerful reminders of how we've renewed American leadership in the world." That made me wonder which of the two d's should be applied to him - duplicitous or deluded. (I won't argue with any readers who might say that he is both because being duplicitous eventually makes you delusional. Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu is best proof of that).

  • Has the media finally turned against the Harper regime?Harper Watch – May 19 to 26
    June 3, 2013

Prior to the 2011 election, the Conservatives pretty much owned the media. What criticism there was, was lukewarm and included some outrageous statements such as "Once Harper gets a majority, he will be able to ease up, be kinder, less controlling". And of course, the media repeated the Harper propaganda that "The Conservatives have done well on the economy" throughout the election campaign giving the Harper gang millions in free advertising. There was also the oft repeated "They run from the right but govern from the centre."

  • Hassan Nasrallah, will the UN investigate Israeli involvement in the al-Hariri assassination?Scott Stockdale
    August 13, 2010

As the case against Syrian involvement in the assassination of former Lebanese Prime Minister Rafiq al-Hariri seems to be unravelling, Hassan Nasrallah, the leader of Hezbollah, said that "there is enough evidence pointing to Israel."

With so much negativity in the news about Muslims and Islam, it's not surprising that members of the Canadian Muslim community are experiencing the backlash, often expressed in the form of hate crimes.

  • Hawkish Pundits Downplay Threat of War, Ukraine's Nazi TiesGregory Shupak
    May 7, 2022

    August 30, 2018

We were born just four years apart; I in 1943 in a middle-class suburb of Cairo, Egypt and he in 1947, in small-town USA. We met formally around 1960, but have been inseparable in the nearly six decades since then, keeping company and supporting one another as dear friends do.

  • Health Canada unhealthy for CanadiansScott Stockdale
    November 27, 2011

While most of the developed world has banned the export of asbestos and put restrictions on the use of wireless devices due to health concerns, the Canadian government has done nothing to protect people's health.

  • Health care is not enough, Dr. Jeffrey Turnbull saysReuel S. Amdur
    January 26, 2011

"We should be investing some of the money we spend on health for social services instead, for prevention." Of course you would expect something like that to come out of the mouth of a social worker, but the speaker was no social worker. It was Dr. Jeffrey Turnbull, president of the Canadian Medical Association. "I'm dealing with the swamp," he said, "and nobody's draining the swamp."
